Curriculum Components
As depicted on the figure below, there are five components of the Responsive Teaching Curriculum. These include: Intervention Goals, Intervention Objectives, Discussion Points, Responsive Teaching Strategies and Family Action Plans.

Intervention Goals are the three developmental domains that are promoted by Responsive Teaching: Cognition Communication, and Social Emotional Functioning

Intervention Objectives are the 16 Pivotal Behaviors that children must use to increase their level of functioning in the three developmental domains.

Discussion Points are information that guides discussions with parents about what defines a pivotal behavior and the role that pivotal behavior plays in learning and development.

Responsive Teaching Strategies are the intervention procedures that parents and others can use during routine interactions to help encourage children’s use of their pivotal behavior intervention objectives.

Family Action Plans are written plans that outline what parents will do to follow through with Responsive Teaching strategies and suggestions.
